Practise What You Preach

Good Morning Everyone,

How many of you find yourselves saying
you will do something and never get to it?

I remember a sermon my pastor preached.
He made up little round circles and passed
them to everyone in the audience. On the
circle was written "A Round Tuit".

The sermon basically was on how we procrastinate.
We promise to do things, but do not do them.
We set goals, but give up. We are not disciplined
in what we know is needful and useful to do.

So he gave us the round tuit to remind us
to get busy and get around to it!

I think this reflects on every area of our life.
If we are undisciplined people, every area of
our lives will be. Do you find this true in your own life?

I have to admit, I spent a good amount of time
not doing what I should have been, and doing
what I should not have. Its called procrastination.
It took hard work to change those bad habits!

The area where this is really serious in, is our
spiritual life. Because we are setting a example
for all the world to see. We are a light, or are we?

My dad taught me a saying: "What kind of a church
would this church be, if everyone here was just like me?"

Have you thought about that lately? That people
are watching you to see if you mean what you say
and say what you mean? That they check out to
see the way you treat people, and the way you
treat your family? That if you make a promise they
watch to see if you will fulfill it? They want to see if
your relationship with Christ is real, or just surface.

If you really were graded on your spiritual life
and how it looks to others, do you think your
grades would be failing?
Does this matter?

First, we are accountable to God. He says we
will account for every word and deed. But we are
also accountable for the way we treat people,
and the example we are to others.

When we make a commitment to God to become
his child, we are no longer our own, we are bought
with a price. We have a new life, one that is committed,
and turned towards Godly concepts and Godly living.

We are to be a disciple. We cannot just sit back and
say well I am a Christian now, I do not need to do anything
else, I can sit back, and relax, and just go to church
on Sundays, and its a done deal. No my friend,
that is not a relationship with Christ, it is merely
a relationship with yourself. No commitment, no change,
no new life, no example to others.

My friends, you have to practise what you preach.
You have to live a life that is a example of a life
transformed by God. A life that will cause others
to want to know Christ.

I know we all fall short, but it doesn't mean we shouldn't
repent, pick ourselves up, learn from our mistakes
and seek to walk closer to God, and read His word
and pray daily. We have to make progress!

So I challenge you today, get on your knees,
repent of the areas of your life you have been lazy
in, or unrepentant in. Ask God's forgiveness,
and to help you be a example to others, and to
grow spiritually in wisdom and knowledge in Jesus daily.

He will help you. You will not have to do it alone.
He wants you to talk to Him often, and feed on
His word so you are equipped for your new life in Him.

This may change someone else, it may save a soul
by you setting a example, or speaking God's word
to them, or just living God's word before them.
Don't neglect your spiritual life, nothing is more
important to you, and to those you will meet.

Anyone can claim to be a child of God, but those
who really are, it should show! We are to be a light
to the world. This is your highest and most important
calling and occupation.

Love
millie

Therefore whoever hears these sayings of Mine,
and does them, I will liken him to a wise man
who built his house upon a rock.
And the rain descended, the floods came,
and the winds blew and beat on that house,
and it did not fall, for it was founded on the rock!

But everyone who hears these sayings of Mine,
and does not do them, will be like a foolish man
who built his house upon the sand. And the rain
descended and the floods came, and the winds
blew and beat on that house and it fell.
And great was its fall!
Matthew 7:24-27

If our house is not built on the Rock of Jesus
Christ, and we do not follow his teachings and
live by them, expect your spiritual life to fall apart
when hard times hit. Christianity is a process
of growth and change and accountability
and personal righteousness, its not just a
sit back and relax for the ride lifestyle.
It is proactive!

"Practice What You Preach"

You can know all the scriptures,
Have all the bibles you can reach,
But when push comes to shove
Do you practice what you preach?

Anyone can go to church
And collapse on the floor,
But when Judgment Day comes
Will you be at Heaven's door?

You can have the biggest of fits
And say the Holy ghost passed through,
But is that really reflected
In the things you do?

You can yell far and wide
Proclaiming your love for Christ,
But what have you given him
When for you He gave his life?

You can lecture others
About the wrong things they do,
But before you look at others
You need to look at you.

You can damn all the sinners
Tell them they're headed south,
But what have you done lately
Besides run your mouth?

You can call yourself a Christian
Spend all your days at church,
But while you are praising His name,
Have you been doing the Lord's work?

You can boast of good deeds
To show us the spirit is within
But why show it to us?
You should show it to Him!

You can memorize the bible
Know it from front to back,
But you don't use it to regulate others
Regulate how you act!

Take a good look at yourself
Not at what others do,
Because when He comes to get his children ...
Will He be coming for you too?
